Established on the picturesque Scenic Loop Road, just northwest of San Antonio--in 1929--The Grey Moss Inn Restaurant offers fine dining and has served qualitysteaks, seafood, lamb and chicken in an exceptionally romantic setting for more than 80 years.

The restaurant and patio are built under a canopy of huge Texas Oaks that beckons you to enjoy the night.  Tables are candlelit and the native rock walls and pine-wood floor "creaks" of romance.  The adjacent meadow home of the historic Treaty Tree abounds with deer most evenings.  Owner Lou Baeten, together with our knowledgable staff, has maintained many of the traditional dishes while adding new "favorites" --such as the buttermilk-marinated fried Texas Oysters and the chorizo-stuffed Bandera Quail.  Organic herbs from our garden are used whenever possible.  The kitchen is lead by head chef Lionel Blache and his innovative Southern US style cuisine.

Most menu items are grilled over mesquite charcoal on our outdoor circular-stone grill.  This captures your attention when you enter our patio.  Patio dining is available --weather permitting-- while winter dining is available near one of our indoor dining room fireplaces.

The Grey Moss Inn Restaurant, in addition to a full-service bar has one of the state's most extensive wine lists.  Wines from California, Oregon, Washington State, France, Italy and Spain are joined by "newcomers" from Chile, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  Of course, Texas wines are also present.  The "Inn" has an extensive wines-by-the glass program and has many small bottles (.375) to choose from.  Some groups have selected our "wines from around the world" option for their special dinner.  Wines are personally selected by Owner/Wine Enthusiast Lou Baeten from different countries and regions and each is matched with appetizer and entree selections.  A brief informational talk is given regarding each wine.  Click Here for their complete wine list.

Directions

Most Direct Route:  

From Loop 1604 & Bandera Road (Hwy 16):

Exit onto Bandera Road, heading West outside of Loop 1604.  Turn Right onto Scenic Loop Road in approximately 2.6 miles (at fourth stoplight).  Travel approximately 3 miles down Scenic Loop Road, you will pass through one stop sign, please be aware of the 30 mph speed limit through the city of Grey Forest, and we are on the right hand side of Scenic Loop Road.

From Loop 1604 & Babcock Road:

From 1604 West, exit Babcock Road.  At the street light turn right - Travel through 3 stop signs (approcimately 5.8 miles).  At the third stop sign turn left onto Scenic Loop Road.  In about 2 miles you will enter the city limits of Grey Forest (speed limit 30 mph).  You will see us on the left hand side.

From IH-10 and Boerne Stage Road:

From IH-10 West, take exit 551 (Boerne Stage Road).  Turn left under IH-10 onto Boerne Stage Road.  Continue on Boerne Stage for approximately 3 miles.  At the four-way stop, turn left onto Scenic Loop Road.  Continue on Scenic Loop Road for 4.4 miles, be aware of the 30 mph speed limit through Grey Forest, and you will see the Grey Moss Inn on the left side of the road.
